Samantha Ballard is a harpist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She received a Bachelor of Music Degree majoring in harp performance from the University of British Columbia where she studied with Elizabeth Volpé Bligh. Samantha has performed internationally in Mons, Belgium, and at the Rio Harp Festival in May 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Samantha was also a semi-finalist at the 2018 OSM Manulife Competition in Montréal. Locally, she has performed with the U of M Concert Choir, MUSAIC, Camerata Nova, and Women of Note. Samantha also presents an annual Christmas concert and independently released her first solo album in 2016, entitled "On Christmas Night" which can be purchased on iTunes and Google Play. Samantha now lives and works in her home town of Winnipeg and enjoys a busy career performing, teaching, and writing and arranging music for the harp.
Samantha is committed to lifelong learning and has participated in masterclasses by world-renowned harpists Alice Giles, Maria Palatine, and Yolanda Kondonassis, and has had the pleasure of attending two World Harp Congresses in Vancouver, Canada, and Sydney, Australia.
An avid lover of pop, movie, anime, and video game music, Samantha arranges and records covers of the music she is most passionate about. Her arrangements and covers have received an overwhelmingly positive response and have been viewed over 4 million times.
